In 2011 Melissa graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art with her BFA in Ceramics and her MAE in Art Education. Since then, she has kept her hands in clay, and has recently moved to Northampton to pursue her career in ceramics. In her work, Melissa focuses on creating clean, intentional forms that fit seamlessly into people’s homes, and bring a bit of joy and satisfaction with each use.
In addition to making her own work, Melissa thoroughly enjoys teaching! She loves that working with clay creates an opportunity to be present and centered; it is her goal to foster a fun, calm and creative environment with each class to hopefully provide students with a peaceful pause in their day. Melissa considers it a privilege to guide students of all ages through the process of turning ideas into reality.
