Beginner Handbuilding for Young Teens (ages 10-13): Mondays 4-6pm, May 2nd – June 6th

In this fun, creative class, students will learn how to handbuild planters, vases, and jewelry boxes with ceramic sculptor and mother Sheilah Bolger. Her belief is that every child is an artist. She enjoys working alongside kids in the simple fact that they just create and don’t over critique.  Sheilah Bolger holds a bachelors degree of fine art in sculpture from the university of Massachusetts Amherst. She worked in the design industry for over 10 years designing women’s clothing and ceramic dinner wear.  Beyond design Sheilah taught hand building and tile making in clay in an after school program with elementary age children in Cambridge.  She loves knitting, working with textiles and recently exhibited a small series of paintings locally in Northampton. Sheilah is an avid swimmer but biggest enjoyment comes being a mom.

Register SOON!! (skips Memorial day May 3oth) 4 classes: $168

Teach Your Own Class!

CyclePottery is fortunate to have Sheila Boldger, mother of Fiona age 12, using the CyclePottery studio to reignite her love of working with clay and to use her knowledge of ceramic sculpting she received in earning her Fine Arts degree in Sculpting. She is currently teaching her first handbuilding class to 5 junior high girls.

Sheila says, “After years of dreaming of working in clay again Cycle Pottery has allowed me the freedom to rediscover my love of hand building. Working in the studio and being surrounded by creative people and kids is exciting and inspiring.”

Kathryn welcomes other artists to use her studio for teaching their own classes, whether it be a series of classes or just a one day workshop.  50% of the class tuition is the fee for use of the studio, all materials, and firings.
